About Me

My photo
Forest, Virginia, United States
A long time ago, my sophomore English teacher, Father William Campbell, saw something in my writing and predicted that I would someday become a newspaper columnist. He suggested the perfect title for my column--"Leaves of the Palm." Now that I have a little extra time on my hands I've decided to put Father Campbell's prediction to the test. I'm going to start using this blog site not just to reprint opinion pieces I've published elsewhere but to try to get more of my ideas and opinions out there. Feedback is welcome. My Column for June 13, 2021

Even in war, there are rules, and ignoring them can prove to be self-defeating. (I've copied the letter I allude to below.) --S/f, EFP

My Column for May 2, 2021

Once again, half my mail is likely to consist of veiled threats and the other half of explicit threats. (Note that I have added an appropriate illustration this week.) --S/f, EFP

My Column for April 18, 2021

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I didn't study English and American literature for ten years only to have to think for myself--thank you very much! --S/f, Ed

My Column for March 21, 2021

For the record: I am not a "guest columnist." I am a paid columnist. I am going to drub the page designer--again! --S/f, EFP
