About Me

A long time ago, my sophomore English teacher, Father William Campbell, saw something in my writing and predicted that I would someday become a newspaper columnist. He suggested the perfect title for my column--"Leaves of the Palm." Now that I have a little extra time on my hands I've decided to put Father Campbell's prediction to the test. I'm going to start using this blog site not just to reprint opinion pieces I've published elsewhere but to try to get more of my ideas and opinions out there. Feedback is welcome. My columns for 15 December 2024 --S/f, EFP

This one also appears in this week's News & Advance, but without the coda. The Kitsap Sun gives me more print space than the News & Advance. --S/f, EFP

d, I liked your editorial a lot. One Question for you, Do we live in a three-dimensional world or a two-dimensional World? If the pendulum is spinning in a globe. Left will become Right and Right will become Left. The labeling of left, right and center is the job of the media. In America, the masters of the media don't give a hoot about political dogma. There is a motive behind their position. They exist solely to sell products.

That's what everyone sees when they open their screens, be it a phone, a work pad or a computer. You and I and everyone else are being manipulated by the media. Why did Trump and the media giants buy into social media?

While we reach out to others, like you are doing today, you are being labeled as Left, Right, or Center and targeted specifically by your point of view. It's a sort of commercial spyware. I hope you are fire-walled enough to filter out this constant noise. I am not tech savvy enough to protect myself nor are many Americans. Anyone who does not use the internet to do research is lying. Layered in our search for reason, we are always being bombarded by misinformation and deception. That is the price we pay for using technology to communicate. Sad thing is, we can't put technology back in the box, once we have plugged it in.
You have yourself a nice day and keep up the good work.
